We're always looking for voices that sound like real dog parents, not content mills. If you have genuine experience, strong opinions backed by actual knowledge, and a dog you probably talk to in full sentences, we want to hear from you.
What We Publish
- Health: Symptom explainers, prevention guides, science translations
- Nutrition: Feeding guides, supplement reviews, ingredient deep dives, honest comparisons
- Wellness: Mobility, brain health, daily routines, life stage transitions
- Real Talk: Money, guilt, loss, joy, the emotional reality of caring deeply about a dog
Our Standards
- 800 to 1,500 words. Say what you need to say and stop.
- First person is great. "I tried this" beats "one should consider" every time.
- Cite your sources. Link to studies, not other blog posts that link to studies.
- No em dashes, en dashes, or hyphens used as punctuation. Period and comma people only.
- Include a reminder to consult a professional wherever health advice is given.
- Humor is welcome. Condescension is not.
What We Pay
We pay per article based on depth and expertise. Rates start at $75 for standard articles and go up for in-depth research pieces. We'll discuss specifics after we see your pitch.
How to Pitch
Send an email to write@thecaringdogparent.com with:
- A brief intro (who you are, what dog you live with)
- 2 to 3 article ideas with a sentence or two about your angle
- A link to something you've written (blog, publication, even a really good Reddit post)
We read every pitch. If we're interested, we'll respond within 7 days. If you don't hear back, it means the fit wasn't right for this round, but you're welcome to pitch again anytime.
No AI-generated pitches, please. We can tell, and it's exactly the kind of content we're trying to be the alternative to.
